"Yoshi's Story" by Purple Yoshi
The history of Yoshi first began when Mario and Luigi were very young. a Yoshi out for a walk was startled and shocked as a young boy suddenly fell from the sky and landed right on Yoshi's back. This baby had a map and the confused Yoshi, being uncertain of what to do, took the baby Mario to the other Yoshi's. The other Yoshi's carefully examined the map, and realized the route that the stork was taking young Mario and his brother Luigi. They decided that they, the Yoshi's would formulate a plan to get Luigi back and deliver Mario and Luigi safely back to there parents. And so, the Yoshi's (Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, Purple and Brown) set out on an amazing adventure, ready to overcome any troubles that stood in there way. And so it goes, the Yoshi's DID get Luigi back from the evil Bowser, and these cute little dinosaurs became friends with the two brothers that would one day lead the Yoshi's on many amazing and dangerous adventures.
Bowser and his faithful helper Kamek seem to have trouble giving up. Yoshi has been on at least two adventures with baby Mario, but potentially more. In his second adventure (which was once again to save Baby Luigi, as well as other babies in this case), Yoshi teams up with Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby DK, and even Baby Wario and Baby Bowser. And of course, Yoshi was skilled and amazing enough to defeat Bowser again and save the babies.
This was just the start. Yoshi and Mario began their next quest in order to save all the Yoshi eggs from Yoshi's island that had been stolen by the koopa kids. Yoshi wasn't the main hero in this adventure, but he would always wait in yellow blocks for Mario when he needed Yoshi. Together, Yoshi and Mario once again defeated Bowser and saved all the Yoshi eggs, and princess Peach. By this point, the Yoshi's had developed special abilities: Red yoshi could breathe fire with a koopa shell, yellow could stomp with a koopa shell and blue could fly with a koopa shell.
As Yoshi has moved on in his adventures, he has gathered many skills and abilities. In his biggest adventure yet, the Yoshi's must combine their strength and all the things they've learned along the way to rescue their precious happy tree. Bowser has stolen their happy tree which supplies them with happy fruit and the Yoshi's realize that the only way to get their tree back is to use the strength of their happiness and think happy thoughts so that Bowser can't retaliate against them. The Yoshi's (Green, Red, Blue, Light Blue, Yellow and Pink) follow the trail of fruit that was left from it being carried to Bowser. The Yoshi's will have to climb high towers, cross lava lakes, cruise fluffy clouds, swim with jelly fish and go again Bowser in a heated battle for their beloved happy tree. The power of their happiness give the Yoshi's strength and they come out victorious. Peace reigned once again among the Yoshi's and they were all happy.
This cute little green reptile isn't as innocent as he looks though. Yoshi is really quite a fighter. In super smash bros, he uses his unique abilities to defeat his enemies. Some moves include: Headbutt, egg roll, ground pound, lick and many more. Yoshi has only one jump, whereas all the other characters have three. This gives Yoshi no disadvantage though, because his flutter jump brings him at least twice the distance of all the other fighters jumps.
Yoshi is quite an athletic dinosaur. He has been in many sports competitions including golf and tennis. He uses his speed and power to make himself one of the better characters (in my opinion anyway).
Over many years and many Nintendo consoles, Yoshi has taken on many looks. There was the SNES look, the Yoshi's Island look, the Paper Mario look, the Yoshi's Story look, the Nintendo 64 look and the Gamecube look. I don't quite understand why anyone would think this way, or ever turn their backs on this increadible little reptile, but some people have a problem with the new look of Yoshi on Gamecube! I see nothing wrong with Yoshi on GCN, and I can hardly see that much of a difference. In fact, I think Yoshi in SSBM looks cuter than he usually does. Either way, despite the debate about Yoshi's new style, I think there are enough dedicated fans who like Yoshi no matter what he looks and that Yoshi's popularity will never falter.
Yoshi has appeared in uncountable amounts of games and storeis, even some of his own, and became a hit from the very start! But then, what isn't there to like about Yoshi?
