Nintendo and the Competition

It seems that in recent years Nintendo has had a lot of competition. It's two largest competators: Playstation and X-box claim to provide gamers with a more "mature" gaming experience. Strange that out of all the videogame fans my age, the more mature ones are playing Mario games. Not only that, but as these mature games grow in popularity, their span of gamers will spread to younger kids. Children who were once playing honest, good games such as Super Mario World are now infecting themselves with such things as Grand Theft Auto. I personally think some games out there are a terrible influence of children.

If all goes well, Nintendo will soon push it's way back to the top. It is already dominating the handheld market, and the next couple of months will be good for Gamecube. Lots of new and exciting "Exclusively for Nintendo" games will be hitting stores shortly. Many defenders of the other systems have stated that nintendo is inferior due to it's lack of games. Nintendo may have fewer games that some other systems, but it has always brought gamers quality over quantity. Release dates have been pushed back in the past, much to the annoyance of gamers. I, on the other hand am not too upset by this because I know Nintendo thought of a way to make the game better.

I admit that Nintendo has changed greatly over the years, and that no new game can challenge the greatness of some of the classics, but they are still the best system. Nintendo's controller for one thing is far superior to the others. It handles smoothly, has a stylish look, and is not ridiculously large. Also, Nintendo is the only company to offer a wireless controller. For another thing, the size of the game disks are much more managable. There is nothing wrong with the standard disk size, but the miniature gamecube ones are un-copyable, cute, and practical. Then we game to the gamecube itself...it is cute, portable, a conveniently small size, sleek in design, and overall very practical.

Fans of other systems have challenged me by saying that Gamecube's need of a memory card for saving is just a rip off to the fans. Sure it costs a bit of extra money, but now you can take your saved game anywhere. Say your friend has ssbm, but doesn't have any of the secret characters and wants to play as Mr.Game and Watch. You can now go over to his house, plug in your memory card, and play.

I don't really have much else to say except that Nintendo is by far the best system out there. It's amazing hardware, and un-challengable games make it THE gaming company to go with, and in my opinion it leaves it's competitors in it's dust.
