1B Secret Characters
Bowser (Mario series) How to unlock: Win everyone else's bio (including the other secret character's bios) and Bowser will challenge you. Beat Bowser to unlock him.
Gannondorf (The legend of Zelda series) How to unlock: Unlock a star version of all 12 default characters and Gannondorf will challenge you. Beat Gannondorf to unlock him.
Regice (Pokemon series, Ruby/Sapphire generation) How to unlock: Play the game for 24 hours and Regice will challenge you. Beat Regice to unlock him.
Meta Knight (Kirby series) How to unlock: Beat the Break The Targets mode with everyone and Meta Knight will challenge you..
Diddy Kong (Mario series and DK series) How to unlock: Clear Smashing Safe Cracker within 35 seconds and have a perfect game in Smashing Soccer (don't let a single ball get in your goal) and Diddy will challenge you. Beat Diddy to unlock him.

2A Default Stages
The Mushroom Kingdom (Mario series)
Same as original SSB stage but with 2 more pipes that you can hop into. (Although Piranha Plants will be in them just like the original)
Krow's Nest (DK series)
From Donkey Kong Country 2, the Krow's Nest returns! You think that K. Rool way off in the background is just for graphic detail? Think again! K. Rool will launch cannonballs at the Krow's nest, which will cause 30% damage to anyone who gets hit by one. K. Rool's cannonballs are rather rare, though, so they're not much of a problem. Also, every 3 minutes into the fight, Krow will drop an egg that will DESTROY the part of the arena that it falls through. The egg will also cause 17% damage to anyone who touches it in it's fury. The only platform the players can jump to is the actual nest, which is rather small. On a side note, you can see Squaks flying around in the background.
Hyrule Castle (Legend of Zelda series)
This is almost the same as the original SSB stage. The platform to the left of the castle has been removed, and the gaurd tower on the right of the stage has been enlarged. The hurricanes are now more common, and the actual castle section has been shrunk down a little.
Big Blue (F Zero series)
This stage is the same style as Big Blue from SSBM, but scrolls faster and the cars are in different positions. Sometimes, a racer will spill coffee out onto the track. If it hits you, your controls will be reversed for around 10 seconds.
Great Fox (Starfox Series)
Remake of SSBM Great Fox with a few additions. Slippy Toad will sometimes race by in his plane (you can't see him, you can only hear his voice saying "Oops!".) and drop by one of his inventions (A Starfox blaster) or just some coffee that will reverse your controls for around 10 seconds.
Fourside (Earthbound Series)
Remake of SSB Saffron City except that the Pokemon no longer come out of the door and it looks like like Fourside from SSBM. Also, a UFO will sometimes come down and become a platform you can run around on. No, the aliens won't spill coffee.
2B Secret Stages
Bowser's Castle (Mario series)
How to unlock: Win Bowser's bio.
There's one pit in the center of the arena, and Hammer Bros. will throw hammers from the background on rare occasions. The stage has many low points and high platforms, making a game of tag seem practical here.
Halbred (Kirby series)
How to unlock: Win Meta Knight's bio.
Oh no, the Halbred has returned! You must keep moving as you battle, as the platforms behind you will slowly deplete. Eventually after you go through everything, the game will cycle and you'll be back at the start again. Since Meta Knight is a playable character, he won't be trying to jab at you with his sword or anything. Don't worry, King Dedede fans, you can see the fat Kirby villian flying (in a helicopter) in the background of this stage!
Island Cave (Pokemon series, Ruby/Sapphire generation)
How to unlock: Win Regice's bio.
This is the home of Regirock, Regice and Registeel. There are two short walls to your sides. You have to smash your opponent high to get them out of the arena. You can see Regirock and Registeel (Regice is playable) in the background, and EXREMELY RARELY they will try to blast each other. Right when their two blasts are about to meet (the third Regi of the trio, Regice, is the only one who can do this), use your Ice Beam attack upwards and the three blasts will form a huge explosion. There will be a large flash on the screen. When you can see again, you'll see Mew, Celebi and Jirachi floating in the air. They'll each say their own name one at a time and then they'll fly off into the distance.
Brinstar Depths (Metroid series)
How to unlock: Win Samus' bio.
The only Metroid stage is a remake of Brinstar Depths from SSBM, with a single exception. Sometimes when Kraid is getting ready to claw the stage to rotate it, Ridely will fly in and bite Kraid. Kraid will yell in pain, which will keep him from tilting the stage for around 15 seconds.

On the main menu you can see "1 Player", "Vs.", "Options", and "Data". I'll give each of these their own sections with in depth info on each mode.
3A 1 Player
Classic
You'll go up against characters/mini-games in this order:
Vs. Fox
Vs. Link
You and random ally Vs. DK and Diddy
Break The Targets!
You and no ally Vs. Mario and Luigi
Vs. Yoshi Team (22)
Vs. Pikachu/Regice (you'll face Pikachu if you haven't unlocked Regice.)
Smashing Soccer (If 10 goals get in your goal, you'll lose a life.)
Vs. Samus
Vs. Kirby Team (30)
Vs. Metal Meta Knight
Smashing Safe Cracker (If you don't make it to the finish within 45 seconds, you'll lose a life.)
You, Zelda and Ness Vs. Giant Captain Falcon
Vs. Master Hand (Yes, Crazy Hand can appear. To make him appear, play on hard or very hard without using a continue.)
Character Challenge
Remember "Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour"'s mode where you could face off against characters to get star versions of them? Well, this is it in SSB style. A letter will appear next to a character who wants to challenge you. Secret characters will challenge you as you unlock them. Star characters don't take as much damage from attacks; they're faster; they can jump higher; and they also deal more damage when they attack. To make a character a star character, hold down R as you pick the character (Once you unlock them).

All Star *SECRET*
How to unlock: Beat Classic and Adventure on very hard. Get a star version of all default characters.
Same as All Star in Melee, except that there are only 17 characters in this game and you have 2 lives (Too easy. Look at the challenges against the secret characters!). Secret Characters (Super Hard Only) will appear here as you unlock them. The first two fights are against 1 character. The next two fights are against two characters each. Then the last of the default characters will fight you three on one. After you unlock the secret characters, they'll appear here. If you unlock all of them, then you'll face them in this order (Super Hard Only):
Diddy
Meta Knight
Regice
Gannondorf
Bowser
Diddy will be extra fast while Meta Knight will be able to jump extra high. Regice will have as much defense as if he were metal while Gannondorf will deal lots more damage than normal. The final battle against Bowser is against a giant Bowser. In the fight against Bowser, there will be tons of mushrooms raining down, but they won't affect you if you touch them. They're there to make Bowser larger for the final challenge.
Mini Games
When you choose this, you'll get a sub menu with three mini games. "Smashing Soccer" "Smash Safe Cracker" and the classic "Break the Targets". Smashing Soccer is just like "GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLL!" from Mario Party 4. You're the goalie, and you've gotta stop three random characters from scoring 10 goals in 30 seconds. The game keeps records of the lowest total of shots (the lower the score, the better) that get in your goal.
Smashing Safe Cracker is a game where you must press the right button combinations to open the doors. The screen might say "B A R L L L A!!!". You would have to press all of those buttons in that order to open that door. Once you open 9 doors, you'll reach the safe. The safe's button combination will be longer than the ones needed for the doors. The game keeps records of how fast you can get to the end.
I believe we all know what Break the Targets is from previous SSB games and the simple name...
3B Vs.
You have all of the options found in the main Vs. mode in SSBM, and you can battle a friend here by linking up. You only need one copy of the game to link up, but if only one person has the game, then everyone will be forced to play as Yoshi in the Mushroom Kingdom in an every-Yoshi-for-himself match. If everyone has a copy of the game, then you can choose the character and the stage, and you can even play the Smashing Soccer mini game together!

Records
This is like the orignal SSB records for the characters. Shows how many KOs (Knock Outs), SDs (Self Destructs), Use percentage, etc. for each character.
Character Bios
This mode is also brought back from the dead from the orignal SSB. One of the main changes is that the bios must be unlocked for the characters. To unlock a bio, beat classic, adventure and all star on very hard all with the same character to unlock his/her bio.
Sound Test
To unlock this, unlock all of the character bios.
4 Secrets
UNLOCK DIDDY
Clear Smashing Safe Cracker within 35 seconds and have a perfect game of Smashing Soccer (Don't let ANY balls get in your goal.) to make Diddy challenge you at Krow's Nest.
UNLOCK META KNIGHT
Clear Break the Targets with all 12 default characters to make Meta Knight challenge you at the Halbred.
UNLOCK REGICE
Play the game for 24 hours (Unlike unlocking Mewtwo, it doesn't have to all be in Vs. Mode).
UNLOCK GANNONDORF
Get a star version of all 12 default characters and Gannondorf will challenge you at Hyrule Castle.
UNLOCK BOWSER
Win everyone else's bio to make Bowser challenge you at Bowser's castle.

Win Bowser's bio.

Win Regice's bio.
