Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

By Yoshi King
Graphics: 9 out of 10

The graphics in SA2: B are really great and they're usually very realistic to boot. The only reason that I give this a 9 is because during some of the cut scenes, you can obviously tell that this game is dubbed from Japanese because the characters mouths move even when there aren't any voices. Also, in the Chao aspect of the game (more on those guys later), the Chao bodies are quite blocky, giving them a non-realistic look.

Music/Sound: 10 out of 10

The music in this game can either be REALLY good, or REALLY bad........ it all depends on your tastes in music. In my opinion, it's great, and the lyrics in the songs are usually crystal clear. As for the bells and whistles, every single one is perfect and always suits the mood or action. However, hearing Tails' yell every time he jumps can get annoying if it's done consectutively. There's only one stage where that's required, so it's not that bad.

Frustration Level: 9 out of 10

This game can be QUITE frustrating if you've never played before, and earning all 80 emblems is a long, hard and grueling task, though the benefits make up for it. The first levels for each character are pretty easy and do a good job of easing the player in the mechanics for that characters type (high speed action levels, mech levels, and emerald hunting). However, the final stages are EXTREMELY difficult and you'll usually lose a life at LEAST once on you're first try..... but once you get to know the level, it gets easier. As for the chao aspect, raising each chaos levels in each category is QUITE the challenge, and although it's not difficult, it takes up a LOT of time........

Difficulty Level: 8 out of 10

As said before, this game isn't very difficult at the begining, but it DOES get VERY difficult on the final stages... The very last stage it VERY hard, and took me about 4 trys to get it done! the bosses aren't very difficult at all, and it's very easy to spot their weaknesses. And when you have to fight a person from the opposite side of the good/evil spectrum (sonic versus shadow for instance) all you have to do is hit them with a regular attack! Although it DOES get difficult to even TOUCH them in the final battles.....

Amount of fun: 9 out of 10

Although this game is focused to 13 year olds, it can be VERY fun for absolutely everyone. All you have to do is get a hang of the controls, and you're on your way! As for the chao, they're also very fun in their own way as well. They act like real life animals, and if you take good care of them, they'll never die! (Although they DO get reincarnated.....)

Re-Playability: 10 out of 10

Now HERE is where the chao come in. Chao are virtual pets that are much like tamagotchi or something like that, although they are much better than ANY virtual pets out there..... You raise them by giving them animals and chao drives that you get from fallen enemies, and their stats rise with each level, much like a pokemon or something similar. However, these stats are used for chao races and chao karate, which is much more fun than any pokemon battle any day....and, as you win more, and more chao races, yoour chao will recieve items and toys! Alsom you'll get rewarded with an emblem.....and about 8 out the 180 come from chao related activities. Anyways, raising your chao is always a blast because if you take good care of them, they'll NEVER die. as for the main game, that's fun to play again and again too, but the main reason this gets a ten is because of the chao.

Overall: 9 out of 10

This game is one of the most fun games I've EVER played. The action is fast, smooth, clear and fun, and I never get tired of it. Chao are also fun to raise as well. I currently have 7 chaos chao, and it takes a LOT of time to get those guys......
