1: Characters
Sonic:
Sonic is the fastest one in the game. He's great when there's a level that needs a lot of speed. Another thing he's good for is destroying robots. His somersault is a great way to beat them. And Sonic is also the only one who can grind down rails.
Moves for Sonic:
B: Somersault
Down while running: Quick Spin Dash
Down and B: Spin Dash
A while jumping: Sky Scrape
Tails:
Miles "Tails" Prower is the only one in the gang who can fly (unless you count Knuckles gliding). He is also the only one who knows how to swim, making him perfect for water levels. Also, with his Tail Attack, he can whip bosses in a flash.
Moves for Tails:
B: Tail Attack
Down while running: Quick Spin Dash
Down and B: Spin Dash
A repetitively while in the air: Fly
Knuckles:
Knuckles' gliding skills can help him climb walls. When you glide into a wall, you can climb it using the control pad. Knuckles' punches and uppercut also comes in handy around robots and bosses.
Moves for Knuckles:
B: Punch
B and B: Double Punch
B, B and B: Uppercut
Down while running: Quick Spin Dash
A while jumping: Glide
Down and B: Spin Dash
Amy Rose:
Amy is the only one of the bunch who can't use the spin dash or the quick spin dash. But, however, that is replaced by Amy's hammer. With her hammer twirl, she can whip bosses in one..two..three.
