Graphics: 8 out of 10:
The graphics in this game are flawless. They really show off the gamecube's abilities graphic wise. You cannot find a single problem with the graphics in this game, much unlike the N64 zelda games. The only reason I game this game an 8 out of 10 in graphics is because, quite simply, I would have prefered that the GCN Zelda game have a more realistic look to it. In other words, I don't like cell shading very much. It is only really in the characters that it annoys me. They remind me of japanimation which I'm also not very fond of. However, the scenery is brilliant!
Music/Sound: 9 out of 10
The music this game is incredible! Not only did the makers of this game proove themselves yet again by creating tons of new and catchy tunes, but they modified, and included many old classics. One song that I took special note of was the one in hyrule castle. Though it was slightly modified, it was a song that had not been used in the zelda series since A Link to the Past! The sound in this game was also fantastic! Many of the sounds which helped make Ocarina of Time great were brought back again, only changed slightly, like many of the songs. Therefore, The Wind Waker was able to achieve the same "feel" as the other zelda games.
Frustration Level: 6 out of 10
This game is fairly straightforward, and not very confusing. I found that unlike some zelda games in the past, the Wind Waker did not have too many frustrating points, where the game simply would not co-operate with the player. The only aspect of the game which makes it get even a 6 in frustration level is the dungeons. Though not particularily difficult, it is sometimes hard to find out what to do, and once you have, how to do it.
Difficulty Level: 7 out of 10
Like the frustration level above, this game is straightforward. That alone iliminates some difficulty. However, like all games, there are some hard parts. As an example, in the wind temple, when you have to fight the wizardrobe, and he continually throws enemies such as armos, and moblins in your way, it is very difficult, and annoying.
Amount of Fun: 10 out of 10
There's not much to say, except...this game is a blast!! You'd think after sooo many years, and sooo many games, that Nintendo would lose it's touch, but it seems to be getting better than ever. I can not emphasise how entertaining this game is. Not only is the main quest fun, but there are countless activities and mini games along the way which makes the wind waker even better! There are also quite a few movie parts, which are enjoyable to watch, and make the story line even more captivating, and compelling.
Replayability: 7 out of 10
Like any one player adventure game, it eventually must come to an end. However, I know quite a few people who have beaten the game, and are now playing it a second time round. I think games like this are more replayable than multi player ones because multi player games are very repetative, and it can get tiring after a while, especially if you're playing them by yourself. Keep in mind the fact that I feel NO game is deserving of a 10 in this category, and if I have given a game 10 for replayability in one of my other reviews, it is probably because I wrote it a long time ago, and have since changed my mind.
Overall: 9 out of 10
To get the overall score for this game, I did not average out the other scores, because I feel that if a game isn't very difficult, it is not necessarily inferior to more difficult games. But I gave this game a 9 out of 10 because quite simply, it is the second best game I've ever played. The game I like most, and probably always will like most is Ocarina of Time for N64. Keeping in mind that I will not give any game a higher score than Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker got an incredibly good score. I have given many games 9 out of 10 in my reviews (probably because I usually review my favorite games), though I feel that The Wind Waker is more deserving of it than any other. This is a MUST BUY game! Though like all other zelda games, it can get slightly complicated, so the player needs to at least slightly know what they're doing. Lastly, I recommend buying a strategy guide. Not only for help, but it's enjoyable to read.
